Subscribe to the journal Critical Pathways in Cardiology
I am editor in chief, and it is the official journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. I am also a cardiologist at BWH and professor at Harvard.
I get requests about 2-4 a quarter for journal articles. It is part of LWW / Wolters Kluwer and presumably would be a bundle option in their portfolio.
it is a journal that specializes in clinical pathways for patient care and quality improvement initiatives.

The publisher is Alexandra Gavenda Alexandra.Gavenda@wolterskluwer.comIt would be great if you could consider adding this to the offerings (electronic only is fine).

Hi, Jennifer: Thanks for your suggestion. Could you tell us a little more about what you’re thinking? What do you have in mind by “create a section?” Warm regards, Carla

Display information about people, places, groups (corporate bodies) that is hidden in authority records
There is lots of useful information in authority records that is not visible to end users. For example, Radcliffe College has an earlier name "Society for the Collegiate Instruction of Women (U.S.)". A researcher who finds his or her way to "Radcliffe College" would find this information useful. However, it is not viewable at all in HOLLIS or HOLLIS Classic. Some headings have history notes on them, but these are not visible unless a user selects the link to "Heading information" in HOLLIS classic. On most headings, selection of "Heading information" provides little to see, so this option is apt…

add publication dates to keyword searches in HOLLIS (and HOLLIS classic)
If you do a keyword search (for example Harvard class anniversary report 2013) there are no results in HOLLIS classic, and the results in HOLLIS are confusing (why would the records of the Dean of Harvard College appear first in such a result? They keyword "2013" appears no where in the HOLLIS record and appears only once in the finding aid, the date on which the finding aid was last updated).
If you added the date of publication to the keyword indexes in both cases, the results would be more in line with my expectations.

IBring up 'Author words' and 'Title words' as defaults for the 'Expanded Search' in Hollis Classic
In Hollis Classic, when you click on 'Expanded Search', the 3 search boxes at the top are set to 'Anywhere." It would be great if, instead, one could be set for 'Author words' and one set to 'Title words' as defaults. Probably most people are going to do either an author search, a title search, or an author/title search. If not, they are no worse off to have the top 2 search boxes set to "Author words" and "Title words" rather than Anywhere.
1 voteHello, and thank you for submitting your comment to Tell Us.
This is a good idea, and we’d like to leave it up to see whether it garners any more votes from library users. Your suggestion will also be forwarded to the library systems office so that they know the request has been made.

put a sign in button on the home page
It's very confusing to find where you are supposed to sign in to access Harvard Library content. The staff login button at the bottom is the only button that stands out, and the "my accounts" button does not link directly to a log in. It takes me an average of 3-5 minutes each time to find the log in button, and by then I have already gone to Google Scholar instead.

Allow notes on requests for items in HOLLIS
When I make a request for something in HOLLIS, but the information in HOLLIS is not complete enough, I'd like to be able to note a condition under which I may or may not actually want the item.
Also, I'd like to get an automatic email of my request sent to myself.
Thanks

Thank you for submitting these good ideas! We will leave this item open to see if others vote and show that they think these are good ideas, too.
One thing that might help us, though, is a clearer understanding of what you mean by “the information in HOLLIS is not complete enough.” What is missing from the HOLLIS record that you would like to see?

One special borrower card to rule them all
It would really be wonderful if there were a special borrower card that would allow access to Widener and Loeb Design library. Right now I'd have to pay $200 for Widener and $125 for Loeb Design - which is hard. I'm doing academic research that crosses disciplines and the books in either/or of the two libraries are not sufficient. It would be really great to get access to everywhere on the same fee. Thanks!
1 voteHello, and thank you for your submission to Tell Us.
One of the goals of the current Harvard Library reorganization is to make user policies consistent across the libraries of Harvard. Special Borrower privileges are certainly one aspect of library policy that is being reviewed during this process.
We would like to leave your comment active in Tell Us in order to see what kind of support it generates, so that we can gauge where this might fall on a list of priorities.

This is something likely to interest others. We’d like to leave your posting available for other library users to consider, and see whether it garners more “Tell Us” votes. We will also bring the idea to our IT folks, in order to determine whether there are any obstacles to doing it.

Add the covers of the books
Hello! We are from Argentina, and we are the nieces of the author Polo Godoy Rojo. We were really proud when we found out in facebook that 7 of our uncle´s books were a part of the Harvard Library.
We would like to see the covers of the books in the facebook pages and in your page.
We can provide the scanned covers if you need them or in case you don´t have them.
Thank you!Shirley Menez

Liberate the theatre and dance books!
I find it extremely frustrating that all of the theatre and dance books are trapped inside Houghton. I just realized, from the matches feed on the left here, that I complained about this last semester. Doesn't seem to be a popular issue. But at any rate, I just searched for Laban's The Mastery of Movement and found that ALL THREE COPIES (as are all of his titles in the catalogue) are for in-library use only and must be formally requested. How am I supposed to get any work done if I have to go through this ordeal just to check…
1 voteThank you, Chelsea, for providing an additional example of your troublesome experience with non-circulating books. As we consider how best to address the problem, it will be helpful for us to know how many students are encountering similar frustration with these collections. Please encourage your colleagues to add their votes to your idea.

Reference Lilbrarians Available on Saturday and/or Sunday
Students work on assignments over the weekend. It would be great to have reference librarian support during that time for assignments that are due on Monday morning.

Give access to Interlibrary loan to all card users, including those of alumni.
Right now, in retirement, I'm living away from the library where I have full ILL access. I am an active scholar and have many ILL needs.

More Comfortable Chairs at the Computer Lab on the Second Floor
The Harvard Law School has wonderfully comfortable chairs to support long hours of study on the first floor. It would be great to have them at the second floor computer lab, where one can work with a large computer screen and be comfortably seated for hours at a time.

subscribe to Oxford Scholarship Online: Psychology and Neuroscience
I tried looking for "The Science of Social Vision" but saw that it is long overdue at Widener. It is available online, but it appears the library does not have a subscription to that collection with Oxford. It would be great to have access to this text either in a new hardcopy version or through online access. Thanks!
1 voteThanks for your suggestion! You can use this form to submit a purchase request for either a replacement copy of the book, or a subscription to the Psychology and Neuroscience collection of Oxford Scholarship Online: http://lms01.harvard.edu/comments/feedback-buy.html. I’d fill the form out for you, but I don’t want to supply incorrect contact information or deadlines for your request.
I’ll leave this suggestion open, in case others would also like to vote for access to this collection.
In the meantime, you can use Borrow Direct to get a copy from another library in about 4 business days: http://library.harvard.edu/borrow-direct.

Presentations - more exposure
It is not possible to attend in person the presentations.
It is possible to see these "live' or later via Skype and Youtube.
Have the presentations videotapes so many many more people can enjoy and learn from these presentations. I for one would love to "attend" a number of them.

Enable Google Maps directions feature on HL use of Google Maps
When I click on the icon for a map of library and it goes to a page that makes use of the Google Map, I would like the actual Google Map functionality to be available -- click on pin and Google dialogue of getting directions is presented. Most people are familiar with this interface, and expect it when they see Google Map. The current dialogue box that pops up when clicking on the pin is not useful -- I don't need an image of the library, I also don't need written direction, I would prefer direct access to Google Map…
